A nine-year-old boy has died in an Opole hospital after a BMW driver veered onto a sidewalk and struck him while he was riding his bicycle near his home in Ku\u017anica Stara. <\/p>\n
Emergency services received a call at 7:30 p.m. regarding an incident in Ku\u017anica Stara on Kolejowa Street, heading from Przystaj\u0144. According to traffic police findings provided by st. asp. Joanna Wi\u0105cek-G\u0142owacz of the K\u0142obuck Police Department, a 39-year-old driver of a BMW passenger car drifted onto the sidewalk on a road curve and struck a nine-year-old boy riding a bicycle near his home.<\/p>\n
The child was transported in critical condition by a Medical Air Rescue helicopter to a hospital in Opole, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.<\/p>\n
The 39-year-old driver was also taken to the hospital. A 32-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man traveling in the vehicle sustained no injuries. Breathalyzer tests confirmed that the driver and passengers were sober. Authorities drew blood samples from all occupants to test for drugs.
