Jaros\u0142aw Kaczy\u0144ski and other representatives of Law and Justice attended the ceremonies commemorating the 82nd anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising at Warsaw Wola Martyrs Square, where the PiS leader delivered a speech. In its first part, he addressed the uprising itself, stating it was one of the greatest, bloodiest, and most tragic acts in the Polish struggle for freedom, independence, and dignity.<\/p>\n
He also addressed long-standing doubts regarding the purposefulness of the Warsaw Uprising, pointing out that the decision to launch the revolt had two premises: showing that Poles are not merely victims who lost, and the conviction that the Red Army would support the insurgents and join the fighting. He emphasized that those who wanted to fight at all costs, including the soldiers and commanders, cannot be condemned.<\/p>\n
He stated that Polish independence had to be defended 82 years ago and must be defended now, when it is threatened in a completely different way, with politics being pursued by the same state, namely Germany, using entirely different methods.<\/p>\n
Touching upon contemporary politics, he called for the continuation of efforts regarding war reparations from Germany. He stated that criminals can no longer be punished because they are dead, but compensation is needed and is a matter not only of our interest, but also of our honor. He added that this relates to the simplest thing: Poles cannot be murdered just like representatives of other nations, noting that some people across various borders still consider the murder of Poles an acceptable act, and that we must fight for this unless we want to be unworthy of truly being Polish.<\/p>\n
The struggle for Polish rights and dignity has meaning, as the insurgents knew, with thousands paying for it with their lives and subsequent persecutions. He noted that while we are not persecuted in that sense today, we must witness the reality of today’s Europe and recognize that the changes and events taking place in Europe represent a season for independence, which is approaching and must be seized.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
