Police officers from Warsaw’s Praga-Po\u0142udnie district arrested an 18-year-old Moldovan citizen who attempted to collect a bag containing 2.5 million zloty from a 60-year-old woman. Officers prepared an ambush, replacing the real cash with cut paper, counterfeits, books, and other scrap paper.<\/p>\n
The 60-year-old woman had contacted the Warsaw VII District Police Command, suspecting that criminals were attempting to scam her again. Having experienced similar situations previously, she decided to notify the authorities well in advance.<\/p>\n
According to the victim’s account, individuals posing as bank employees and public officials contacted her, attempting to persuade her to hand over 2.5 million zloty. After receiving the report, officers from the criminal and economic crime departments gathered necessary information and set up an ambush.<\/p>\n
Following the fraudsters’ instructions, the woman was supposed to hand over the bag of money to a young man arriving with a suitcase, using the pre-arranged password “Aleksander.” Officers secured the planned handover location and ensured the woman’s safety.<\/p>\n
An 18-year-old Moldovan citizen arrived with a black suitcase and collected the package, believing it contained 2.5 million zloty. Instead, the bag was filled with cut paper, counterfeits, books, and other papers by the police. Once the teenager took the bag and placed it in his suitcase, he was caught red-handed and arrested.<\/p>\n
The suspect was placed in a police cell, and investigators gathered evidence to charge him with attempted fraud involving property of significant value. Thanks to the timely report and police intervention, the woman did not lose her money.<\/p>\n
