Police in Ciechan\u00f3w discovered human remains hundreds of meters from where residents found a hand fragment a day earlier, with advanced decomposition currently preventing identification. <\/p>\n

Discovery of a Human Hand Fragment<\/h4>\n

Police recovered human remains a few hundred meters from a spot where strolling residents of Ciechan\u00f3w came across a hand fragment a day earlier. The find was located in the brush off the side of the road, and due to advanced decomposition, the identity, sex, and age of the deceased person cannot yet be determined.<\/p>\n

The first discovery occurred on Saturday, August 1, at around 7:00 PM on P\u0142ocka Street on the outskirts of Ciechan\u00f3w. Residents walking in the area noticed a human body fragment in the brush near the fence of a property and immediately notified the authorities.<\/p>\n

Officers were dispatched to the scene to secure the area and begin an inspection under the supervision of a prosecutor. Junior Inspector Magda Sakowska from the Poviat Police Headquarters in Ciechan\u00f3w stated that the recovered element is most likely a fragment of a human hand in a significant state of decomposition, with operations lasting into the late evening hours.<\/p>\n

Search Resumed with K-9 Units<\/h4>\n

The search was resumed on Sunday morning as police combed the surrounding area with the assistance of service dogs, including a canine specialized in locating human corpses.<\/p>\n

Hundreds of meters from the initial find, officers uncovered additional human remains along with clothing items in rarely frequented brush off the side of the road. These remains were also in a significant state of advanced decomposition, and the body was secured for further examination.<\/p>\n

Ongoing Investigation and DNA Testing<\/h4>\n

At this stage, it cannot yet be confirmed whether the previously recovered hand fragment belongs to the same person, with specialized examinations including DNA testing expected to provide answers. The sex, approximate age, and identity of the deceased person remain undetermined, and the cause of death is also unknown.<\/p>\n

The proceedings are being conducted under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Ciechan\u00f3w.
