According to IMGW forecasts, temperatures in Poland may reach up to 40 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, August 5. Because of this, some municipal offices are shortening their working hours, including Nysa in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, where officials are working 1.5 hours less on Tuesday and Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The Municipal Office in Nysa announced that on August 4 and 5, 2026, the office will be open from 7:00 AM to 1:30 PM due to high temperatures. The office cash desk will be open until 12:30 PM, and a document drop box will be placed at the main entrance until 3:00 PM, citing particularly burdensome working conditions.<\/p>\n
A similar situation will occur at the Municipal Office in Grodk\u00f3w in the Opole Voivodeship, which will be open until 3:00 PM on Wednesday. Officials stated that the reduction in working hours was introduced due to persistent heatwaves and the forecasted rise in air temperatures, asking citizens to account for these changed hours when planning their visits.<\/p>\n
The shortened working hours also affect officials in Jelenia G\u00f3ra, Lower Silesian Voivodeship. According to the announcement, due to particularly burdensome working conditions caused by high temperatures, the office will receive residents one hour earlier\u2014until 2:30 PM\u2014on August 4 and 5, while appealing for special caution.<\/p>\n
Working hours will also change in the municipality of W\u0105sosz in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. On Wednesday, August 5, and Thursday, August 6, the office will open at 6:00 AM and remain open until 2:00 PM.<\/p>\n
Officials requested that these changes be considered when planning visits and urged residents to handle urgent matters in the morning hours. They also reminded the public about electronic services, appealing for special caution, avoiding direct sunlight, and drinking water regularly.<\/p>\n
Due to high temperatures, shortened working hours will also apply to municipal offices in Pruszk\u00f3w (Masovian Voivodeship), Zawichost (\u015awi\u0119tokrzyskie Voivodeship), Brzeg Dolny (Lower Silesian Voivodeship), Lipnik (\u015awi\u0119tokrzyskie Voivodeship), \u017babno (Lesser Poland Voivodeship), and Rog\u00f3w (\u0141\u00f3d\u017a Voivodeship), among others.<\/p>\n
As the Polish Press Agency (PAP) learned, officials in Warsaw do not currently anticipate any changes to their working hours.<\/p>\n
IMGW has issued first, second, and third-degree heat warnings for almost the entire country. First-degree warnings were issued for the south of the Pomeranian and Warmian-Masurian voivodeships and the central-eastern part of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, remaining in effect until Wednesday at 7:00 PM with maximum daytime temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius. Second-degree heat warnings will be active in a significant part of the Lubusz and Greater Poland voivodeships, the south of the West Pomeranian, Podlaskie, and Lower Silesian voivodeships, and the north of the Masovian and Kuyavian-Pomeranian voivodeships. Maximum daytime temperatures will range from 30 to 34 degrees Celsius, with nighttime temperatures starting from 18 degrees Celsius, and these alerts will remain in effect until Thursday at 8:00 PM.<\/p>\n
Third-degree heat warnings apply to the central, southern, and southeastern parts of the country. In the Lublin, Subcarpathian, Lesser Poland, \u015awi\u0119tokrzyskie, \u0141\u00f3d\u017a, Silesian, Opole voivodeships, the north of Lower Silesia, and the south of Lubusz, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, and Podlaskie voivodeships, thermometers will indicate over 34 degrees Celsius during the day.
