Prime Minister Donald Tusk declared on Wednesday that if MP Roman Giertych illegally leaked interrogation footage of Jaros\u0142aw Kaczy\u0144ski, he will face consequences. <\/p>\n
Last week, a portal published YouTube videos showing fragments of a multi-hour interrogation of Jaros\u0142aw Kaczy\u0144ski at the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office. The PiS leader was questioned on June 10 as a witness in the “two towers” case, which the prosecutor’s office dismissed two weeks later due to a lack of elements of a prohibited act.<\/p>\n
Following the publication of the video material, the District Prosecutor’s Office announced it was conducting activities related to the release of the recordings, which serve as an attachment to the witness interrogation protocol. The prosecutor’s office noted that the only person who requested access to the entire case file was one of the victim’s attorneys.<\/p>\n
Prosecutor Piotr Antoni Skiba, spokesperson for the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office, told “Fakt” that only one person had access to the entirety of the files: attorney and MP Roman Giertych.<\/p>\n
Addressing the situation on Wednesday, Donald Tusk stated that if it turns out MP Giertych did anything illegal, such as removing these materials, he will naturally bear the consequences.<\/p>\n
Tusk added that he did not get the impression the prosecutor’s office officially stated Giertych is responsible for the illegal removal of documents, noting he would directly ask the Prosecutor General if that is the prosecution’s belief and would expect an immediate investigation if so.<\/p>\n
According to the Civic Coalition leader, Giertych is a person who is meritorious in some matters and controversial in others, but he is “not a sacred cow” and “if he broke the law, he is out.”<\/p>\n
Last week, following the District Prosecutor’s Office statement regarding the recording, Giertych argued in an interview with “Fakt” that pointing to him is unjustified, stating that the prosecutor’s spokesperson is telling untruths and that the leak regarding Jaros\u0142aw Kaczy\u0144ski originates from the prosecutor’s office itself.<\/p>\n
On June 25, two weeks after Kaczy\u0144ski’s hearing, the prosecutor’s office dismissed the “two towers” case upon finding no elements of a prohibited act, concluding an investigation that had run since February 2025 regarding planned skyscrapers on a Warsaw plot belonging to the PiS-linked Srebrna company and the Lech Kaczy\u0144ski Institute Foundation.<\/p>\n
The investigation concerned the actions of individuals acting on behalf of Srebrna between May 2017 and July 2018, who allegedly led Austrian businessman Gerald Birgfellner to an unfavorable disposition of property of great value amounting to no less than 1,300,000 euros.<\/p>\n
