Fees sometimes reach the equivalent of several monthly benefits, even though the entire procedure can be completed free of charge. The office is receiving a growing number of reports regarding commercial entities proposing paid assistance for exceptionally high compensation.<\/p>\n
Dr. Krzysztof Czechowski, director of the office, emphasizes that authorities do not want disabled individuals to surrender part of their financial support for unnecessary services, as the state provides free access to information and help at every stage. Using an intermediary is entirely voluntary, does not increase the chances of receiving the benefit, and does not accelerate the proceedings.<\/p>\n
The procedure for obtaining the support benefit is designed so that a person with a disability can carry it out independently or with the help of relatives, without requiring law firms, advisors, or paid intermediaries. Free support is available from institutions such as the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), provincial disability assessment boards, and the Government Plenipotentiary’s office.<\/p>\n
The Government Plenipotentiary’s office also warns against companies falsely promising a “guaranteed benefit” or faster decisions. The provincial disability assessment board alone determines the level of support needed, and no intermediary influences the points granted, the decision, or the processing order.<\/p>\n
To receive the support benefit, adults with disabilities must first apply to the relevant provincial disability assessment board for a decision determining their level of support need, ranging from 70 to 100 points. After obtaining a final decision, applicants submit an electronic form to the Social Insurance Institution for payout.<\/p>\n
Individuals with 95 to 100 points receive 4,353 PLN monthly (220% of the social pension), while those with 90 to 94 points receive 3,562 PLN, 85 to 89 points yield 2,375 PLN, 80 to 84 points give 1,583 PLN, 75 to 79 points result in 1,188 PLN, and 70 to 74 points provide 792 PLN monthly.<\/p>\n
The support benefit does not depend on the income of the person with a disability or whether they receive other benefits. Once granted, funds are transferred directly to the bank account specified in the application.<\/p>\n
