Prosecutors in Rzesz\u00f3w have seized assets, frozen bank accounts, and placed liens on properties belonging to former Polish National Foundation officials facing abuse of power charges over an illegal campaign. <\/p>\n
“By the decisions of the Prosecutor of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Rzesz\u00f3w dated July 14, 2026, regarding asset security on the property of suspect Maciej \u015a., a seizure of receivables from a bank account was made up to the amount of PLN 200,000 (the bank secured an amount of approx. PLN 191,000 as of the date of the statement),” reported Jaromir Rybczak, the regional prosecutor in Rzesz\u00f3w.<\/p>\n
“Furthermore, on the property of the same suspect, asset security was implemented by establishing a compulsory mortgage in the amount of PLN 1,000,000 on a built-up land property constituting the suspect’s co-ownership,” he added. Additionally, on July 15, a decision was issued seizing Maciej \u015a.’s income from work remuneration at KRRiT amounting to a PLN 5,000,000 receivable.<\/p>\n
The second suspect is Cezary J. “By a decision dated July 14, 2026, on asset security regarding the property of suspect Cezary J., the handling prosecutor established a compulsory mortgage in the amount of PLN 2,000,000 on a built-up land property constituting the suspect’s co-ownership,” the prosecutor’s office communicated.<\/p>\n
The case concerns the “Fair Courts” campaign. On July 15, the prosecutor’s office brought charges against Maciej \u015a., a board member of the Polish National Foundation, and its former president Cezary J. As then informed by the head of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Rzesz\u00f3w, prosecutor Jaromir Rybczak, the evidence gathered in the case justified charging both suspects with jointly and in agreement committing the offense of abuse of authority and failure to fulfill duties resulting from their functions on the board of the Polish National Foundation. The charges related to the implementation and financing of the campaign.<\/p>\n
He emphasized that the campaign “in its content and purpose” was contrary to the statutory objectives of the Foundation. These actions caused great material damage to the Foundation in an amount no less than over PLN 8.4 million.<\/p>\n
At the same time, contrary to the provisions of the Act of June 27, 1997, on political parties, non-monetary values valued at that amount in the form of political marketing services addressed to the public space within the indicated campaign were transferred for the benefit of the political parties Law and Justice and Solidarna Polska, prosecutor Rybczak stressed. The suspects did not plead guilty to the acts attributed to them and provided explanations.
