He argued that the US is in a very good situation regarding weaponry, though they always want and need to have more in case something else happens. He reiterated that they have enormous quantities of ammunition and are monitoring less precise or sophisticated types very carefully.<\/p>\n
Trump stated that progress is being made in talks about ending the war in Ukraine, describing it as a brutal war filled with a lot of hatred between the two leaders, but repeating that there is some progress.<\/p>\n
When asked about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s appeals for supplies such as missiles for Patriot air defense systems, Trump replied that “we want missiles too” and pointed out that the administration of former President Joe Biden transferred a large amount of weaponry to Ukraine.<\/p>\n
Zelenskyy has long appealed for supplies of American Patriot missiles as the main defense against Russian ballistic missiles. During the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, Russia attacked Ukraine with 28 missiles and 115 drones, resulting in 17 deaths and 44 injuries in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, with Ukrainian air forces reporting that not a single Russian missile was intercepted.<\/p>\n
A report from the Washington-based think tank CSIS indicates that the US military holds fewer than 1,000 Patriot interceptor missiles and fewer than 250 THAAD interceptor missiles.
