At the beginning of August, a strong heatwave swept across Poland, prompting the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management to issue third, second, and first-degree warnings for almost the entire country. Although Poles finally experienced some cooling, it will not last long, as IMGW announces two distinct periods with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius. The first will arrive in a moment, while the second will follow a few days later and may prove even more intensive.<\/p>\n
Saturday will be a calm day with temperatures mostly ranging from 20 to 25 degrees Celsius, becoming warmest in the south and southeast where local thermometers will show up to 26 degrees. The north will remain slightly cooler, but a distinct warming will be felt throughout Poland. On Sunday, heatwaves will return primarily to the west, where temperatures from 30 to 32 degrees are forecasted, while the center of the country will see 24 to 28 degrees and the northeast 22 to 24 degrees.<\/p>\n
The hottest day of the first wave is set to be Monday, when values from 31 to 34 degrees Celsius are forecasted in the west, center, and south, with models indicating the highest temperatures for southwestern Poland. Following the scorching start of the week, a distinct weather change will occur as temperatures drop to 18-26 degrees across most of the country on Tuesday, except for the far southeastern edges where thermometers will indicate around 29 degrees.<\/p>\n
Forecasts indicate that heatwaves will return from August 14, with local temperatures potentially reaching up to 35 degrees Celsius, while remaining hottest in the west and southwest of the country. Temperatures exceeding 30 degrees will also persist in many regions on August 16.<\/p>\n
Current calculations from the ECMWF HRES model indicate two distinct periods with very high temperatures, with the first falling on August 9 and 10 and the second between August 14 and 16.
