Thousands of parents across Poland rush to apply for the 300 PLN Dobry Start school benefit ahead of the new academic year, with the Social Insurance Institution already disbursing 1.9 billion PLN in total funds. <\/p>\n
Though the new school year is still a few weeks away, thousands of parents are not waiting until the last minute with formalities. The application period for the Dobry Start benefit has been open since July 1, and interest in the program is already enormous. As reported by the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), the number of submitted applications has approached 3 million, and over half a billion zlotys have already reached family bank accounts.<\/p>\n
Summer is in full swing, but more provident parents are already keeping government money for school supplies in mind. Just like with the 800 plus program, there is no income threshold. Anyone who submits an application will receive the 300 plus, which has been possible to do since July 1.<\/p>\n
According to a statement published by ZUS on platform X, nearly 3 million applications covering almost 3 million children have been submitted so far. ZUS has already transferred over 500 million zlotys to parents.<\/p>\n
The scale of the program is best seen when compared with last year’s data. ZUS reported that last year it received a total of over 3.3 million applications for benefits for nearly 4.9 million children, with payout amounts exceeding 1.4 billion PLN.<\/p>\n
Adding the more than 500 million zlotys transferred to families since the start of this year’s intake to last year’s payouts exceeding 1.4 billion PLN brings the total value of funds disbursed under the program to over 1.9 billion PLN.<\/p>\n
The Dobry Start benefit amounts to 300 PLN and is granted once a year for every school-age child. There is no income criterion, meaning parents’ earnings do not affect the right to the funds.<\/p>\n
Support is granted for children up to the age of 20, or up to 24 years old for students with a disability certificate.<\/p>\n
Funds can be allocated for the purchase of textbooks, notebooks, school supplies, a backpack, or other learning necessities.<\/p>\n
The program does not include children attending reception classes (zer\u00f3wki) or university students. The eligible age is calculated by birth year, meaning students in the final grades of high schools, technical schools, and post-secondary schools can also benefit from 300 plus, even if they turned the required age before the school year started.<\/p>\n
Applications for the 2026\/2027 school year can be submitted from July 1 to November 30.<\/p>\n
Parents who complete formalities by the end of August will receive the money by September 30 at the latest. Submitting an application at a later date also allows for obtaining the benefit, though the payout will occur correspondingly later.<\/p>\n
The Social Insurance Institution accepts applications exclusively online. They can be submitted via the mZUS application, the eZUS portal, the Emp@tia service, or electronic banking.<\/p>\n
Before sending the form, it is worth carefully checking the child’s PESEL number, school details, and bank account number, as the benefit is transferred exclusively via bank transfer.<\/p>\n
Starting this year, new regulations apply to Ukrainian citizens benefiting from temporary protection in Poland. The Dobry Start benefit is granted exclusively for children attending schools within the Polish education system.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Ukrainian citizens with UKR status residing in Poland with a child must demonstrate economic activity in the month preceding the application submission.<\/p>\n
