A convicted Nazi collaborator from Denmark fathered numerous children after relocating to Sweden, where he served as a sperm donor in a pioneering 1960s medical program rooted in racial hygiene. <\/p>\n
Walther Frisch was a Nazi who fought as a volunteer in the German Waffen-SS. Following World War II, he was convicted in Denmark for treason and collaboration, according to the Danish public broadcaster DR. After serving his prison sentence, the man moved to Sweden. In the 1960s, he became a sperm donor in a secret, pioneering program run by Swedish doctors at the Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm, at a time when the ideas of so-called racial hygiene remained popular.<\/p>\n
Frisch likely fathered many children, potentially even hundreds.<\/p>\n
“The Danish SS man was probably perceived as physically fit, attractive, and belonging to the so-called Nordic racial type. He was most likely characterized by a very high level of intelligence and cognitive abilities,” emphasized documentary co-author Tobias Hubinette. He added that Frisch “probably wanted to replicate himself, (a man) shaped by Nazi ideology.”<\/p>\n
It is known that the man has one child with his wife. However, the authors of the documentary “The Secret of the Nazi Donor” managed to identify 15 descendants of Frisch from Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Germany. The total number of children Frisch has remains unknown. Co-producer Hubinette does not rule out, however, that there may even be hundreds of them.<\/p>\n
“(SS Chief) Heinrich Himmler said that every SS officer should have at least four children. Are we the result of Nazi ideology?” wondered one of Frisch’s sons, Mats Rydberg, in the report.<\/p>\n
According to DR reports, neither the Karolinska Hospital nor Swedish national and regional archives contain any documentation regarding the sperm donation. Meanwhile, representatives of the Karolinska Hospital refused to grant an interview. They did, however, comment on suspicions that the institution could have admitted the man to a racial project. “If the choice of (sperm) donor was dictated by ideological considerations, it is unacceptable and deeply unethical,” the hospital emphasized.<\/p>\n
