Speaking on Monday, August 10, Poland 2050 MP Wioleta Tomczak announced that there is cross-party agreement to enact a statutory nationwide nighttime ban on alcohol sales. <\/p>\n
The Sejm will issue a single consolidated bill that will receive the president’s signature, declared Poland 2050 MP and deputy head of the health committee Wioleta Tomczak on Monday, August 10, as quoted by RMF24. The politician stated in the Sejm that there is bipartisan consensus for the statutory introduction of a nighttime alcohol sales ban across all of Poland.<\/p>\n
Wioleta Tomczak emphasized that the project incorporates the president’s feedback. She noted that the president expressed a very positive view regarding the need to strengthen anti-alcohol policy in the country and presented remarks that are included in the draft. RMF24 reported that Law and Justice has also expressed agreement for introducing the nighttime prohibition.<\/p>\n
RMF24 reported that there is no agreement to include fuel stations under the prohibition. Bills concerning alcohol sales were submitted by The Left and Poland 2050, and these projects have already passed their second reading. The Left’s proposal assumes a nationwide ban on alcohol sales in stores and other retail outlets between 10 PM and 6 AM. According to RMF24 information, while politicians from various groupings agreed to adopt restrictions, some coalition partners, the opposition, and the camp of President Karol Nawrocki do not want fuel stations to be covered by the total nighttime alcohol sales ban, an idea that was also included in The Left’s draft.<\/p>\n
Over 200 local governments have already introduced a nighttime alcohol sales ban. Currently, restrictions on nighttime alcohol sales can be introduced by individual municipal councils, which determine the area and hours of their application. Nighttime prohibition is already in effect in more than 200 local government units.<\/p>\n
Gazeta.pl previously reported that since June 1, a nighttime alcohol sales ban has been in effect in all districts of Warsaw from 10 PM to 6 AM.
