Former Polish President Andrzej Duda\u2019s ambitious plans to establish a domestic think tank and public office have stalled, with former aides reporting no knowledge of the initiatives while Duda has instead taken up a role at the U.S.-based Heritage Foundation. <\/p>\n
On September 1 of last year, during an appearance on the YouTube channel “Rymanowski Live,” Andrzej Duda stated his desire to serve the Republic of Poland with his experience from the margins of the political scene. He outlined plans to operate like a think tank in established democracies.<\/p>\n
Duda announced he would create the think tank alongside his associates and former experts from his surroundings, suggesting that part of the team might consist of his former ministers from the Chancellery of the President.<\/p>\n
Former associates of Duda have reported that no discussions regarding the think tank are currently taking place. \u0141ukasz Rzepecki, a former advisor to Duda, stated in an interview with RadioZET.pl that he has no knowledge of the matter, noting that he is now involved with the Confederation party’s New Hope faction and that, to his knowledge, President Duda does not function politically.<\/p>\n
Similarly, Jacek Siewiera, the former head of the National Security Bureau, confirmed he had not discussed the think tank plans with Duda, adding that he is now associated with the Atlantic Council. Professor Andrzej Zybertowicz, a two-term advisor to Duda, also confirmed he is not involved in creating the former president’s think tank and currently serves as a social advisor to Karol Nawrocki.<\/p>\n
In July, Wyborczej Krak\u00f3w journalist Anna Kolet visited Andrzej Duda at his office on Krakow’s Planty to see where he was expected to receive ordinary citizens. The former president defended the necessity of the office, stating that even if residents did not need a former president’s office, he did.<\/p>\n
To date, the office has not been officially opened, lacking designated business hours, a telephone number, or an email address to schedule appointments with the former president, though it occupies a prominent location on the upper floor of a restored 19th-century historic villa.<\/p>\n
Gazeta.pl previously reported that in January of this year, Andrzej Duda joined the Heritage Foundation, a conservative U.S. think tank linked to the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump. The institution announced that Duda would collaborate with them as a distinguished visiting professor.<\/p>\n
