A line 1 tram derailed on S\u0142omi\u0144skiego Street in Warsaw on Tuesday evening, damaging the track infrastructure and prompting major disruptions, detours, and replacement bus services. <\/p>\n
On Tuesday, August 11, before 6 PM on S\u0142omi\u0144skiego Street, past the “Rados\u0142awa” roundabout in the direction of the Gda\u0144ski Bridge, a line 1 tram derailed. The first bogie of the second carriage of the 105N-type train fell off the tracks.<\/p>\n
Technical services initiated operations at the scene, successfully re-railing the derailed train and towing it back to the loop.<\/p>\n
Following the removal of the tram, it was discovered that the trackage in the area of the Rondo Rados\u0142awa 07 stop had sustained damage.<\/p>\n
At this moment, the sequence of events remains unclear. It is unknown whether the track damage occurred first and led to the derailment, or if the infrastructure was damaged by the derailing train itself.<\/p>\n
Repair work is currently underway to enable the resumption of traffic. As communicated, trams should return to their regular routes by Wednesday morning at the latest.<\/p>\n
Warsaw Public Transport also reported the infrastructure damage, noting disruptions to lines 1, 20, and 28 toward Praga due to the damaged trackage by the Rondo Rados\u0142awa 07 stop. Trams have been directed to detour routes.<\/p>\n
Line 1 toward Annopol and \u017bera\u0144 Wschodni runs from the “Rados\u0142awa” roundabout via al. Jana Paw\u0142a II, Popie\u0142uszki, Metro Marymont, S\u0142owackiego, pl. Wilsona, Mickiewicz, Anders, Mi\u0119dzyparkowa, and S\u0142omi\u0144skiego, returning to its route.<\/p>\n
Line 20 toward \u017bera\u0144 FSO has been routed via al. Jana Paw\u0142a II, Stawki, Anders, Mi\u0119dzyparkowa, and S\u0142omi\u0144skiego.<\/p>\n
Line 28 toward Dworzec Wschodni runs from the “Rados\u0142awa” roundabout via al. Jana Paw\u0142a II, Stawki, Anders, Mi\u0119dzyparkowa, and S\u0142omi\u0144skiego, then returns to its basic route.<\/p>\n
Due to the disruptions, the operation of bus line 500 has also been modified. Vehicles of this line stop at all encountered stops on the section between the “Rados\u0142awa” roundabout and the Starzy\u0144ski roundabout.<\/p>\n
