Masked football hooligans attacked a restaurant housing Hungarian nationals in Zabrze on Wednesday evening, prompting a massive police response and leaving one person injured. <\/p>\n
At 9:27 PM, the duty officer received a report about a group of masked individuals and football hooligans gathered in front of a restaurant at the intersection of de Gaulle and Wolno\u015bci streets. Hungarian nationals were reported to be inside the restaurant, as stated by asp. Sebastian Bijok from the Zabrze Municipal Police Headquarters.<\/p>\n
The individuals inside the venue barricaded themselves. Objects were thrown toward the restaurant, and the group of hooligans also used handheld pepper spray, according to the officer.<\/p>\n
All available patrols, including an alarm company from the police riot units in Katowice, were dispatched to the scene. The hooligans ultimately did not enter the restaurant and dispersed the moment police officers arrived, reports asp. Sebastian Bijok.<\/p>\n
One Hungarian citizen was injured, having broken his leg while escaping and jumping over a fence. Police questioned ten Hungarians, none of whom have filed a crime report so far.<\/p>\n
The extent of the damage to the restaurant is currently unknown, and the owner has not yet filed a report either. Operations are underway to determine the course of events and identify the individuals who took part in the incident.<\/p>\n
The second-leg match between G\u00f3rnik Zabrze and Ferencvaros Budapest will take place on Thursday at 7:00 PM. Last week, the football club from Zabrze lost 0:1 away against the Hungarian club in the first match of the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League.<\/p>\n
