Citizens who reach the age of 100 are eligible for a special monthly honorary benefit from the Social Insurance Institution, regardless of their prior work history or contribution record. <\/p>\n
Reaching the age of 100 is not only a unique milestone, but also grants the right to special financial support from the state. The honorary benefit paid by the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) currently amounts to over 6,200 PLN per month and is granted for life.<\/p>\n
The amount of the honorary benefit is determined based on the base amount in force on the day of the senior’s 100th birthday. Since March 2024, this amount is 6,246.13 PLN gross per month. Once granted, the amount is not indexed, meaning the centenarian receives a fixed sum for the rest of their life.<\/p>\n
Most seniors do not need to worry about formalities. ZUS grants the honorary benefit ex officio to all individuals who are already receiving a retirement or disability pension. The decision is issued automatically after the beneficiary turns 100, and the money is transferred to their account along with their existing benefit.<\/p>\n
The situation is different for centenarians who have not previously received any benefits from ZUS or KRUS. In such cases, the allowance is not granted automatically, and it is necessary to submit a proper application at a ZUS branch.<\/p>\n
If the centenarian has not previously received a retirement or disability pension, the application for the honorary benefit can be submitted by the senior themselves, an authorized representative, or a family member. A document confirming the date of birth, such as a birth certificate copy, must be attached to the application.<\/p>\n
It is worth remembering that the right to the honorary benefit does not depend on work history or the amount of social security contributions paid previously. The only formal requirements remain reaching the age of 100 and holding Polish citizenship.<\/p>\n
