According to the investigation’s findings, 17-year-old Bartosz G. at the time and Maja K. met on April 23, 2025, and the murder took place that evening. The official report on the girl’s disappearance was filed on April 24, and on April 29 her family reported that she had likely been deprived of her liberty.<\/p>\n
During the search, the police stated that Maja K. was last seen on April 23 when she left home to visit a nearby friend. Her body was found on May 1, 2025, in the bushes near a production plant belonging to the family of Bartosz G. An autopsy showed that the cause of death was extensive head injuries.<\/p>\n
The District Prosecutor’s Office in P\u0142ock stated on May 2, 2025, that as part of the investigation already underway at that time, a decision was issued to present a charge of murder with particular cruelty to the girl’s acquaintance\u2014Bartosz G. He faces from 15 to 30 years in prison for this act. According to regulations, a juvenile cannot be sentenced to life imprisonment, with the age at the time of committing the offense being what counts.<\/p>\n
Bartosz G., who was detained in Greece after the discovery of Maja K.’s body, did not agree on May 5, 2025, to be extradited to Poland. He reportedly cited threats directed at him and his family. For the duration of the final decision regarding his case, he was placed in a special juvenile facility. Some Greek media reported at the time, citing documents related to the European Arrest Warrant, that Bartosz G. allegedly dragged Maja K. into a carpentry workshop, where he repeatedly struck her with an axe or a hammer, and then poured a chemical substance on her body, causing burns.<\/p>\n
Following a suicide attempt that occurred at the end of May 2025 in a special juvenile facility in Greece, Bartosz G. was transported to a hospital. When his health improved, he was returned to the special facility. There, he awaited the resolution regarding his transfer to Poland, because his defense appealed the non-final decision in this matter.
