Patients are currently required to collect subsequent packages of medication from the same pharmacy where the first part of an e-prescription was filled. While the Ministry of Health is developing a “split e-prescription” system to allow for greater flexibility, the launch date has been moved to July 1, 2026.<\/p>\n
The Supreme Pharmaceutical Council requested the delay, citing the massive scale of the transition. The system must integrate approximately 12,000 pharmacies and accommodate millions of daily transactions performed by tens of thousands of pharmacists and medical professionals.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Health agreed that the additional time is necessary to ensure proper technical and organizational preparation. Pharmacies may currently submit declarations to join the service via the e-Health Center, with the full rollout now set for the new deadline.<\/p>\n
Once active, the system will allow patients to fill remaining portions of their prescriptions at any participating pharmacy, regardless of where they began the process. This will support patients who travel, face local pharmacy closures, or prefer not to purchase all prescribed medication at once.<\/p>\n
Pharmacists will gain access to real-time data regarding the status of partially filled prescriptions. This shift is expected to reduce the need for medical visits purely for administrative prescription renewals and improve overall medication availability.<\/p>\n
