Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the move is in the interest of the medical community to eliminate suspicion regarding pay scales and the justification of specific earnings. He noted that reports of junior, unspecialized doctors earning nearly 2 million PLN remain a significant concern.<\/p>\n
The government bill, which was approved by the Health Committee on Wednesday following its first reading, comes after mounting pressure to provide greater accountability regarding public expenditure in the health sector.<\/p>\n
The legislation gained momentum following a scandal involving Dawid Kacprzyk, a 28-year-old local councilor and doctor without a specialization, who declared an income of 1.7 million PLN. Most of this total was earned as a contracted SOR coordinator at the Warsaw South Hospital.<\/p>\n
Following the public outcry, Kacprzyk resigned from the Civic Coalition, corrected his hospital invoices, and returned 500,000 PLN. Authorities in Warsaw subsequently dismissed the entire management board of the Warsaw South Hospital.<\/p>\n
Aneta Gom\u00f3\u0142ka-Siembora, an expert in health sector auditing and public procurement, has been appointed as the new president of the Warsaw South Hospital. Her primary mandate involves cooperating with the National Health Fund and the prosecutor’s office to clarify management irregularities.<\/p>\n
