A British court has once again delayed the extradition proceedings for former RARS chief Micha\u0142 Kuczmierowski after one of his lawyers was called to attend a hearing at the Bar Council. <\/p>\n
The Friday, June 19 hearing was postponed after Kuczmierowski\u2019s legal team notified the court by email that one of his British solicitors was required at the Bar Council that day. The courtroom had been reserved for the entire proceeding, yet neither Kuczmierowski nor his defense counsel, nor the British representatives for the Polish prosecution, appeared in court.<\/p>\n
This is the latest in a series of postponements regarding the extradition decision. A September 2025 hearing was previously canceled due to a London water main failure, and another session scheduled for April 13 was also deferred, despite both parties being present.<\/p>\n
Micha\u0142 Kuczmierowski was charged in August 2024 with participation in an organized crime group, dereliction of duty, and exceeding powers for financial gain. He was arrested in London in September 2024 based on a European Arrest Warrant. In February 2025, British authorities granted him release on bail.<\/p>\n
Kuczmierowski is a close associate of former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. His career included roles at BZ WBK under Morawiecki, PKO BP, and the Polish Armaments Group before he became head of the Governmental Agency for Strategic Reserves (RARS). His defense has unsuccessfully petitioned for a letter of safe conduct three times, with prosecutors opposing the move each time.<\/p>\n
The investigation into RARS irregularities, initiated on December 1, 2023, is being conducted by the Silesian Department of the National Prosecutor’s Office.
