Following the scandal involving city councilor and doctor Dawid Kacprzyk, who earned 1.7 million PLN last year, Warsaw Mayor Rafa\u0142 Trzaskowski has announced a major overhaul of the Southern Hospital\u2019s oversight body. <\/p>\n
The controversy emerged after public declarations revealed 28-year-old KO councilor and doctor Dawid Kacprzyk earned 1.7 million PLN last year. Of that amount, 1.6 million PLN was paid for his role as the emergency department coordinator at the Southern Hospital.<\/p>\n
Mayor Trzaskowski confirmed that a new Supervisory Board for the Southern Hospital will be appointed. While he did not name the new members, he stated the board will consist of city officials and healthcare specialists.<\/p>\n
Trzaskowski announced that starting in June, municipal medical companies will be restructured to exclude politicians from their boards. He emphasized that these changes are intended to eliminate any appearance of political influence in hospital management.<\/p>\n
The Mayor noted that the city will not defend specific individuals or positions but will strictly defend established standards. Any irregularities identified by audits will result in concrete consequences.<\/p>\n
Comparing the situation to the satirical character Nikodem Dyzma, Trzaskowski stated that officials are verifying claims that Kacprzyk exploited his influence and position. The Mayor denied any personal involvement or familial ties to the hospital’s emergency services.<\/p>\n
Addressing reports of a VIP room, Trzaskowski clarified that no formal VIP section existed at the emergency department. Officials are currently investigating how a room belonging to the hospital’s spine surgery center was allegedly utilized by Kacprzyk without authorization.<\/p>\n
The hospital’s previous management board was dismissed following the Mayor’s motion. Kacprzyk has since resigned from the Civic Coalition (KO) and returned 500,000 PLN after correcting his invoices.<\/p>\n
