Celebrity and former reality TV contestant Marianna Schreiber has announced her intention to run for mayor of Krakow, proposing the elimination of the city’s Clean Transport Zone and a nationalist policy shift.<\/p>\n
Marianna Schreiber, known as an influencer and former spouse of politician \u0141ukasz Schreiber, gained prominence via the “Top Model” program. In 2023, she founded the “Mam do\u015b\u0107” party, from which she was subsequently dismissed.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Radio Krakow’s “O Tym Si\u0119 M\u00f3wi” program on June 25, Schreiber outlined her platform. She emphasized that patriotism and the preservation of Polish history remain central pillars of her campaign.<\/p>\n
Schreiber\u2019s primary campaign pledge is the liquidation of the Clean Transport Zone, arguing that many residents cannot afford new or electric vehicles. She asserted that drivers should be permitted to operate any vehicle they choose, even suggesting this should extend to those without valid technical inspections.<\/p>\n
The Clean Transport Zone, effective from January 1, 2026, covers roughly 60 percent of Krakow. Current regulations provide indefinite exemptions for vehicles owned by Krakow residents who pay taxes in the city, provided the vehicle was acquired before June 26, 2025.<\/p>\n
Beyond transport reform, Schreiber advocates for free public transit for all residents. She also stated that public buildings should not display flags representing Ukraine, the European Union, or LGBT communities.<\/p>\n
Regarding the city’s debt, Schreiber claimed that the responsibility lies with politicians from the Civic Coalition associated with former mayor Aleksander Miszalski rather than the residents of Krakow.<\/p>\n
Krakow\u2019s previous mayor, Aleksander Miszalski, was removed via referendum on May 24, leaving the city under the management of a government-appointed commissioner. Elections must occur within 90 days of the removal.<\/p>\n
While the 90-day deadline suggests an August 23 election date, Prime Minister Donald Tusk indicated on June 9 that elections will likely take place in September, pending the resolution of legal protests related to the referendum.<\/p>\n
