The incident occurred in mid-May when police officers appeared at the apartment of TV Republika editor-in-chief Tomasz Sakiewicz. The police later explained that the intervention was prompted by a report regarding a threat to someone’s life, which subsequently proved to be false.<\/p>\n

Although the investigation was closed, the prosecutor’s office concluded that the intervention was conducted improperly. These errors did not constitute crimes but were classified as disciplinary offenses. The prosecutor also criticized the behavior of Sakiewicz and his assistant, noting she had hindered police efforts by refusing to show identification.<\/p>\n
The primary cause of the escalation was the officers’ failure to properly communicate the reason for the intervention upon arrival. Furthermore, the officer who handcuffed the assistant failed to warn her or request her lawful compliance, and the detention protocol was improperly drafted at the station without the detainee present.<\/p>\n
The decision to drop the investigation is not yet final. Both Tomasz Sakiewicz and his assistant have the right to appeal the decision in court.
