The Internal Security Agency (ABW) has apprehended a 19-year-old Belarusian and a 44-year-old Pole on charges of conducting foreign-directed sabotage and espionage activities across Poland between 2024 and 2025. <\/p>\n
The Lublin branch of the National Prosecutor’s Office has charged 19-year-old Aliaksei B. and 44-year-old Rafa\u0142 G. with working for foreign intelligence. The suspects allegedly recruited individuals of various nationalities to conduct sabotage in exchange for cryptocurrency payments.<\/p>\n
The pair was tasked with photographing critical infrastructure and sites essential to national security. Additionally, they attended events for the Belarusian minority in Poland to film and photograph participants; these materials were subsequently transferred across the eastern border for use by Lukashenko\u2019s regime and its propaganda machine.<\/p>\n
Aliaksei B. has been remanded to custody for three months. Rafa\u0142 G. faces non-custodial measures, including police supervision and a travel ban involving the seizure of his passport.<\/p>\n
This case follows a series of espionage-related arrests. In November 2025, five suspects\u2014two Ukrainians and three Belarusians\u2014were detained. Three remain in custody, one is in a juvenile facility, and proceedings against a fifth suspect were discontinued following their death.<\/p>\n
The ABW describes Poland as a target of an “undeclared war” by Russia. A May report highlighted an unprecedented rise in investigations related to hostile intelligence activities, with 69 cases initiated between 2024 and 2025, equaling the total volume from the previous 32 years.<\/p>\n
Official data shows that annual investigations remained under six until 2022, rising to 13 in 2023, 21 in 2024, and 48 in the following year.
