The Ukrainian non-governmental organization Myrotvorets added Zbigniew Bogucki to its list of “enemies of Ukraine” after classifying one of his statements as “anti-Ukrainian propaganda.” The organization specifically objected to his use of the term “Eastern Lesser Poland” when referring to historical regions.<\/p>\n
Bogucki responded on X, declaring that he will continue to support those suffering in Ukraine due to Russian aggression. However, he maintained that he will continue to label the UPA and OUN as perpetrators of the genocide against civilians in Volhynia and Eastern Lesser Poland.<\/p>\n
Bogucki emphasized that he acknowledges these lands are currently an integral part of Ukraine. He stated that while he refuses to accept the glorification of historical figures responsible for the genocide, he remains committed to ensuring dignified burials for all victims of the era.<\/p>\n
The Chief of Staff reiterated his record of assisting Ukrainian refugees and providing humanitarian aid. He argued that to move forward, some in Ukraine must confront historical truths and reject anti-Polish sentiment.<\/p>\n
The controversy stems from Bogucki’s critique of a proposed Ukrainian law regarding the National Pantheon. He stated that glorifying individuals responsible for mass crimes is incompatible with Western and European values.<\/p>\n
Myrotvorets, founded in 2014 by Heorhij Tuka, maintains a database of individuals it deems threats to Ukrainian national security. Other Polish politicians, including S\u0142awomir Mentzen, Krzysztof Bosak, and Grzegorz Braun, have previously appeared on the list.<\/p>\n
