A 46-year-old man died early Saturday morning in Płock after police responded to reports of a naked, bleeding individual acting aggressively near a bus stop in the Podolszyce Południe district.
The Intervention
According to the Płock Municipal Police, officers were called to the scene following reports of a naked, bleeding man shouting and behaving irrationally near a market and bus stop. Upon arrival, the man became aggressive toward the officers.
Police stated the individual’s behavior suggested the influence of intoxicants. As backup arrived, officers handcuffed the man with his hands behind his back.
Cardiac Arrest and Resuscitation
While awaiting an ambulance, the 46-year-old collapsed on the sidewalk and ceased breathing. Officers removed the handcuffs and initiated resuscitation efforts, which were continued by paramedics upon their arrival.
Ongoing Investigation
The Płock Municipal Police have launched an internal investigation into the incident. The Police Internal Affairs Bureau and control departments from the regional and central commands have also been notified.
Prosecutor Bartosz Maliszewski confirmed that investigations are underway at the scene and the man’s home. Authorities seized tens of thousands of zlotys and suspected psychoactive substances from the residence, along with body camera footage and local surveillance recordings. An autopsy and toxicological tests will determine the official cause of death.
