Podlasie: House Fire Claims Two Lives on Christmas Eve

On December 25 at 10:40 p.m., a house in Sukówicze, Podlaskie, caught fire, trapping two people inside; firefighters found their bodies after extinguishing the blaze.

Tragic House Fire in Podlaskie

On Thursday, December 25 at 10:40 p.m., emergency services were called to a house in Sukówicze, a village in the Szudziałowo municipality, Podlaskie Voivodeship. The structure was completely destroyed by the blaze.

Firefighter Response and Discovery

Upon arrival, responders found that the entire building was burning. They supplied water streams to extinguish the flames and, after the fire was tamed, searched the empty rooms. Two bodies were discovered.

Victims

Officials confirmed that the deceased were a 66‑year‑old man and a 73‑year‑old woman. No information about the cause or circumstances of the fire has yet been released.

Official Statement

The duty officer of the Białystok State Fire Protection Coordination Office notified the Polish Press Agency on Friday that the bodies had been found at the scene.

Rescue Teams Involved

The incident was handled by units from JRG Sokółka, OSP Szudziałowo, OSP Zubrzyca Wielka, OSP Krynki, OSP Kamionka Stara, OSP Wierzchlesie, police, emergency medical services, and the energy rescue team. The Sokółka Fire Protection Officer and an operational officer also arrived on site.
