Poland 2050 Chief Election Commissioner Resigns

Maurycy Przyrowski, head of Poland 2050’s National Election Committee, has resigned for personal reasons.

Resignation Announcement

“Chairman of the National Election Commission, Maurycy Przyrowski, has resigned for personal reasons. The Party thanks the outgoing Chairman, emphasizing that it highly values his professionalism and substantive work on the elections for Chairman of Poland 2050 Szymon Hołownia,” the group stated in a statement sent to the Onet.pl portal.

Political Background

Maurycy Przyrowski is the director of the office of the Poland 2050 parliamentary club, and in the previous term, he cooperated with the party’s parliamentary circle. Previously, he worked in the offices of Hanna Gill-Piątek and Paweł Zalewski.

Party Chairman Election Controversy

On Sunday, Poland 2050 conducted the second round of online elections for the party chairman. Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz and Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska competed for this position. However, the voting was invalidated. “In the voting process, a significantly larger number of votes were cast than the number of party members entitled to vote,” Poland 2050 stated in a communiqué. They announced that they would file a report with the prosecutor’s office.

National Council Meeting

On Friday afternoon, the National Council of Poland 2050 will also be held online. “The National Council will decide how the electoral process will be conducted further: on the one hand as quickly as possible, on the other hand in a way fully safe for the organization and its members. Safety and credibility of the process are an absolute priority for us,” the group informed this week.
