Poland 2050 party chairman Paweł Śliz accuses colleagues of attempting to forcibly change party regulations to gain power during a parliamentary meeting on February 10.
War in Poland 2050
As reported by Gazeta.pl, the Poland 2050 parliamentary club met on Tuesday, February 10, at 10:00 AM. A motion to amend the club’s rules was submitted, but Chairman Paweł Śliz did not put it to a vote, according to Interia. In response, MP Elżbieta Burkiewicz submitted a motion to dismiss the chairman. Śliz then attempted to adjourn the meeting, preventing the proposal from being voted on. The session ended before 11:00 AM, shortly before the Sejm session was scheduled to begin.
Śliz Explains: Attempt to Change the Rules of the Game
Śliz published a statement explaining the situation: “Since some have chosen the path of media spin, it’s time for a few words about the backstage of this ‘war’ from my perspective. I’m witnessing an attempt to change the rules of the game during the match itself. This action is not only unfair but also highly unethical.”
According to the party leader, the MPs proposing rule changes are fully aware they don’t have the required 3/5 majority for personal changes in the presidency. “Instead of convincing our colleagues with substantive arguments, they are trying to forcibly change the regulations to their own advantage,” wrote the politician.
Is Poland 2050 Falling Apart?
According to the club chairman, both the motion to change the rules and the motion to dismiss him were submitted while 9 of 36 parliamentarians were absent, just before the end of the meeting. “This is not a show of strength. It’s a cynical calculation and an attempt to take power through the back door,” Śliz assessed.
The MP also noted he expected “greater sophistication” from those who emphasize their years of political experience. “We’ve been served an amateurish attempt to grab a position, which strikes at the unity of our entire community. This is not a good example for our members who are watching the situation with sadness,” wrote the politician.
It’s worth noting that according to TVN24, even several dozen MPs are already considering leaving the party.
Chairman Sets Conditions
