Poland 2050 Leader Urges Caution in Trump Diplomatic Row

Pełczyńska-Nałęcz criticizes both Czarzasty and US ambassador over Trump comments, emphasizing diplomatic prudence.

US-Poland Relations Tense After Trump Remarks

American diplomat Thomas Rose stated he has broken ties with Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty over what he called “outrageous and unjustified insults against President Trump.” According to Rose, these comments have become a “serious obstacle” to Poland’s “excellent relations” with Prime Minister Donald Tusk and his government.

Czarzasty Justifies Nobel Prize Position

The tension follows Czarzasty’s Monday statement explaining his decision not to support the Nobel Peace Prize nomination for Donald Trump. The Marshal stated that Trump “does not deserve” the award, citing his destabilizing influence on international organizations and alleged violations of international law and principles.

Polish Political Leaders Call for Restraint

On Friday, Poland 2050 leader Anna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz addressed the situation, stating that while Czarzasty is “right in substance,” he should have “weighed his words” more carefully. She acknowledged Trump’s unworthiness for the Nobel Peace Prize but suggested the criticism could have been presented in a less escalatory manner for Poland’s security interests.

Diplomatic Exchange Between Tusk and Rose

The diplomatic row escalated when Prime Minister Tusk publicly supported Czarzasty, stating that “allies should respect each other, not lecture.” Rose responded by suggesting Tusk’s message was intended for Czarzasty, whom he criticized for “shameful, dismissive and offensive comments” about Trump. The ambassador reaffirmed his respect for Tusk while defending Trump’s relationship with Poland.
