Tusk-Pełczyńska-Nałęcz Meeting Sparks No-Confidence Motion

On April 16th, reports surfaced regarding a meeting between Donald Tusk and Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, during which the potential vote of no confidence against Minister of Climate Paulina Hennig-Kloska was discussed.

The discussion followed reports of tensions within the coalition and potential consequences of Poland 2050’s decision regarding the motion, including scenarios affecting continued governmental cooperation.

Reader Poll: Should Hennig-Kloska Be Removed?

A reader poll was conducted to gauge public opinion on whether Paulina Hennig-Kloska should be removed from her position.

The results, collected on April 21st, showed 52.36% (1633 votes) opposed her removal, while 39.50% (1232 votes) favored it. 8.14% (254 votes) were undecided, with a total of 3119 participants.

Vote Scheduled for Late April

The motion to remove Paulina Hennig-Kloska is scheduled for consideration during a Sejm session planned for April 28-30.

The grounds for the motion include accusations of chaos surrounding the “Clean Air” program, insufficient action to mitigate the effects of EU climate policy, inadequate preparation of the energy and forestry sectors for the 2025/26 heating season, and concerns about the direction of climate policy.

Poland 2050 and PSL Seek Clarification

Politicians from Poland 2050 and the PSL have announced their intention to seek further clarification from the minister, stating their position may depend on the outcome of these meetings.

Some lawmakers currently indicate they will vote against the removal, but warn that a lack of dialogue with the minister could shift opinions. Others are open to supporting the motion, with some already committed to doing so regardless of any discussions.
