Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Keir Starmer have signed a landmark defense treaty aimed at neutralizing Russian threats, fostering military industrial cooperation, and securing European security against hybrid and cyber attacks.
Core Pillars of the Polish-British Agreement
The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that the treaty mandates cooperation in countering hybrid threats, disinformation, and illegal migration. It also covers defense development, arms industry collaboration, cybersecurity, and the security of maritime infrastructure, energy, and health sectors.
Donald Tusk emphasized that the agreement is rooted in the shared protection of democratic values and human rights. He identified Russia as a primary long-term strategic threat to Poland, the United Kingdom, and the entire NATO alliance.
Military and Technological Cooperation
The treaty facilitates joint production of next-generation medium-range air defense missiles and the development of advanced ammunition. Both nations will also engage in large-scale military exercises to bolster integrated air and missile defense systems.
Prime Minister Starmer described the deal as the most significant step forward in mutual defense and security relations in a generation. He stated that the partnership is designed to address evolving, often invisible, modern security threats for the coming decades.
