Polish military monitored balloon-like objects entering airspace from Belarus on night of January 30-31, 2026.
Military Observations
On Saturday morning, the Operational Command of the Armed Forces issued a communiqué regarding flights of objects coming from the direction of Belarus into Polish airspace. Based on flight parameter analysis, these were assessed with high probability as balloons moving in accordance with current meteorological conditions.
The event is described as another in a series of hybrid incidents observed in the eastern area of Poland, though no threat to the security of Poland’s airspace was noted.
Airspace Restrictions
The flights were continuously monitored by military radar systems. To ensure safety, temporary restrictions on the use of part of the airspace over the Podlaskie Voivodeship for civil aviation were introduced. These actions had a preventive character and were in accordance with existing procedures.
Continued Alert
The Operational Command of the Armed Forces remains in constant contact with relevant institutions and services, conducting ongoing information exchange and transmitting data regarding observed objects. The situation is constantly monitored, and the Polish Armed Forces remain ready to carry out tasks related to the protection of Polish airspace.
