Poland Embassy Warns of Major US Snowstorm

Poland’s embassy has issued warnings for 33 US states facing heavy snow and freezing rain from Friday to Monday.

Widespread Storm Alert

Poland’s embassy in the United States has issued a warning about a major snowstorm expected from Friday to January 26. Heavy snow and freezing rain are forecast across 33 states, from Arizona through the Midwest, South, and New England.

The National Weather Service has issued blizzard warnings stretching from the southern Rocky Mountains to the East Coast, affecting major cities including Dallas, Houston, Nashville, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, and Philadelphia.

New York Faces Potential Record Snowfall

The National Weather Service warned on Thursday morning that a significant snowstorm will hit the New York region late Saturday, bringing at least 15 centimeters of snow and “major transportation and daily life disruptions.” New York City could receive over 30 cm, potentially the most since January 2021 when 41 cm fell in Central Park over two days.

Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing in the area Friday evening.

Embassy Advises Preparation

The Polish embassy advises travelers to stock up on food, water, and fuel, as flight delays and cancellations are anticipated at airports. It urges monitoring weather updates and local authority warnings.

“Prepare for potential power outages, avoid non-essential travel, and follow local authority instructions,” the embassy stated.
