The Polish Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) warned of heavy snowfall, rain, and icy hazards across several counties on Monday, 17 November.
Intense Snow Across Lower Silesian Countryside
IMGW announced strong snow showers for Monday, 17 November, between 07:00 and 19:00 in the Karkonosze, Łowicki, Kamienna Góra, and Jelenia Góra counties. Areas above 700 m above sea level are expected to see 10‑15 cm of new snow cover.
Heavy Rain to Hit Southern Poland
Rain, sleet and wet snow of moderate to strong intensity are forecast for the southern part of Małopolska, the Śląskie voivodeship (specifically Żywiec county) and Podkarpackie (Bieszczady, Brzozów, Jasło, Krosno, Lesko, Sanok and Strzyżów counties). Precipitation totals between 30 mm and 40 mm are projected.
Ice Hazard Across Three Voivodeships
After the rain, a risk of freezing on roads and sidewalks is expected in three voivodeships: Małopolska (southern counties), Podkarpackie (Bieszczady, Jasło, Krosno, Lesko, Sanok), and Śląskie (Żywiec, Cieszyn, Bielsko, and Bielsko‑Biała). Minimum temperatures of about –4 °C, and –6 °C at the ground, will lead to ice formation.
