New fuel prices take effect in Poland on Thursday, April 23rd, with gasoline increasing slightly and diesel decreasing.
New Fuel Prices Effective Thursday
New fuel prices will be in effect in Poland starting Thursday, April 23rd, according to maximum rates announced by the Minister of Energy.
The latest announcement published in the Polish Monitor introduces slight corrections – gasoline prices are rising, while diesel prices are falling slightly.
Price Adjustments by Fuel Type
The maximum price per liter of 95-octane gasoline has been set at 5.97 złoty, an increase of 2 groszy compared to the previous rate. For 98-octane gasoline, the increase is more significant – the limit is 6.56 złoty per liter, an increase of 6 groszy.
Simultaneously, drivers refueling with diesel will pay less – the maximum price of diesel has fallen to 6.71 złoty per liter, a decrease of 4 groszy.
Maximum Prices are Limits, Not Fixed Rates
It is important to note that these are maximum prices. This means that gas stations cannot exceed them, but they can offer fuel at a lower price, depending on local competition and the pricing policies of the networks.
How Fuel Prices are Regulated
The fuel price regulation system is based on a clearly defined formula that takes into account several key market elements. The starting point is the average wholesale price of fuels in the country, resulting from, among other things, oil prices and processing costs.
Obligatory fiscal burdens, such as excise duty and fuel tax, are added to this value.
Components of the Final Price
The sales margin, set at 30 groszy per liter, is also an important component of the final price. The total is increased by VAT. This mechanism is designed to limit sharp fluctuations in retail prices and provide predictability for consumers.
