New maximum fuel prices went into effect in Poland on Tuesday, April 28th, as announced by the Minister of Energy, increasing costs for drivers.
Fuel Price Increases Implemented
New price limits for gasoline and diesel fuel came into effect on Tuesday, April 28th, according to the latest announcement from the Minister of Energy.
The maximum price for 95 octane gasoline is now 6.21 złoty, 98 octane gasoline is capped at 6.72 złoty, and diesel fuel at 7.12 złoty per liter.
Higher Than Weekend and Monday Prices
These prices represent an increase compared to the rates in effect over the past weekend and on Monday, when 95 octane gasoline cost a maximum of 6.17 złoty and diesel 7.01 złoty.
The next announcement detailing prices for Wednesday will be published on Tuesday.
Strict Penalties for Exceeding Price Limits
The maximum price mechanism, introduced as part of the government’s protective package, is rigorously controlled by the National Tax Administration.
Selling fuel above the limit published in the Official Gazette carries a penalty of up to 1 million złoty for stations.
Price Calculation Methodology
These rates are calculated daily using an algorithm that considers various factors.
Tax Shield Expires at the End of April
The currently relatively low price limits are a result of temporary tax relief measures.
Regulations reducing taxes are in effect until April 30, 2026.
Potential Price Surge in May
If the government does not decide to extend these solutions for another month, drivers can expect a sharp increase in fuel prices starting in May.
