Poland, Germany, Norway to Provide $500 Million in U.S. Weapons to Ukraine

Polish, German and Norwegian foreign ministers announced in Brussels a joint commitment of $500 million for U.S. weapons purchases for Ukraine ahead of a NATO ministerial meeting.

Joint $500 Million Aid to Ukraine

Poland, Germany and Norway will pool half a billion dollars to acquire U.S. weaponry under the PURL program. The three nations said the aid will support Ukraine’s defense. Poland’s slice is $100 million, as the deputy prime minister disclosed a few days earlier in Brussels.

Sikorski Hopes U.S. and Allies Recognise the Offer

Polish foreign minister Radosław Sikorski stressed the significance of the pledge and expressed hope that the United States and other allies would see it as an incentive. He said he wished the proposal would signal a stronger message to Putin and help secure a fair peace for Ukraine.

NATO Ministers Meet; U.S. Delegation Absent

On 3 December, Sikorski joined a NATO foreign‑minister meeting in Brussels. Unusually, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio was replaced by his deputy, a move the alliance’s secretary general downplayed. The discussion focused on continued U.S. arms supplies for Ukraine and on possible U.S. negotiations to end the war.
