Poland Increases Workplace Accident & Occupational Disease Benefits

New compensation amounts for work-related accidents and occupational diseases will take effect in Poland on April 1, 2026.

Increased Compensation Amounts Starting April 1st

New lump-sum compensation amounts for work accidents and occupational diseases will be in effect from April 1st. The amounts will range from 1,781 zł to 160,264 zł.

According to an announcement from the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy, Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk, these new rates will apply from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027.

Compensation for Percentage of Health Impairment

Compensation will be 1,781 zł for each percentage point of permanent or long-term health impairment, and for each percentage point increase of at least 10 percentage points in that impairment.

Benefits for Total Disability

An insured person with a ruling of total disability to work and inability to self-support will receive 31,162 zł. The same amount applies in the event of a worsening health condition for a pensioner with the same rulings.

Compensation in Case of Death

In the event of the death of an insured person or pensioner, other eligible family members, in addition to the spouse or children, will receive an identical lump-sum compensation. This amount is granted to each eligible individual, regardless of the compensation due to the spouse or children.

Amounts for Surviving Spouse or Children

An eligible spouse or child of the deceased insured person or pensioner will receive 160,264 zł. This applies equally if both a spouse and one or more children are eligible for the lump-sum compensation. An additional 31,162 zł is added for each child.

Compensation for Multiple Children

If two or more children of the deceased insured person or pensioner are eligible, 160,264 zł is awarded. An additional 31,162 zł is granted for each subsequent child.

Benefits for Other Family Members

An eligible family member other than a spouse or child of the deceased will receive 80,132 zł. This also applies if only family members other than the spouse or children are eligible for the lump-sum compensation. An additional 31,162 zł is granted for each subsequent eligible family member.
