On November 11, 2025, Warsaw’s Independence March drew differing estimates from city officials and organisers, with the city citing about 100,000 participants and the organisers estimating up to 250,000.
Crowd Estimates by City Hall, Organiser, and Media
City Hall reported that roughly 100,000 people took part in the Independence March, stating the figure is a preliminary estimate based on current monitoring and may not match organisers’ numbers.
The organisers, the Association of Independence March, estimate attendance at about 250,000 participants. Media outlets, such as Onet, calculated between 120,000 and 160,000 people based on the 2.5 km column length, width, and crowd density estimates.
Route and Progress of the Event
The march began after 2:00 p.m. at the Dmowskiego roundabout, then crossed the Poniatowskiego bridge toward the PGE Narodowego stadium, where the final segment was scheduled.
During the peak of the march, the column spanned several main arteries of the city.
Security and Pyrotechnics
Following the governor’s decision, the use of pyrotechnic materials was banned in Warsaw on November 11. Nonetheless, fireworks and smoke torches were launched along the route.
City Centre Security reported no major incidents, despite visible pyrotechnics on the path.
Why the Numbers Differ
City Hall bases its figures on its own real‑time crowd‑monitoring methods, while organisers calculate attendance from observations and route documentation.
Such discrepancies between municipal and organiser data are common at large mass events.
