Starting April 2, 2026, Poland’s “Active Self-Government” program will offer up to 173,000 zł for accessible housing and up to 4,388 zł monthly rental subsidies.
Program Details and Eligibility
From April 2, 2026, applications are being accepted for housing subsidies and rental assistance for individuals with disabilities. The “Active Self-Government” program provides financial support for adapting housing or securing accessible rentals.
The program is available to individuals with disabilities who require housing tailored to their needs or wish to rent barrier-free accommodation.
Purchase Subsidies Available
Individuals with disabilities living in inaccessible housing – such as buildings without elevators or on high floors – can receive up to 173,000 zł towards a move to more suitable accommodation. The subsidy covers a portion of the difference between the current property’s value and the price of an accessible property, up to a specified limit.
Regional Variations in Funding
Support amounts vary based on location, with maximum limits set individually for each voivodeship (province) and city. Higher limits are available in major cities.
In the second quarter of 2026, maximum subsidies reach 173,000 zł for purchases. In smaller towns, limits are lower but often exceed 100,000 zł.
Rental Assistance Program
The program also offers rental assistance for those who prefer to rent accessible housing. Module III provides a monthly allowance towards rent, covering part of the rental costs for up to 36 months.
This support is aimed at individuals starting independent living or their careers, including graduates.
Maximum Rental Subsidies by Location
The highest rental subsidies in the second quarter of 2026 are available in Warsaw, where wheelchair users can receive 4,388 zł per month, and other beneficiaries up to 3,233 zł. Other major cities offer maximum subsidies ranging from 3,000 zł to 3,800 zł.
Many smaller towns offer subsidies between 2,000 zł and 3,000 zł per month.
Application Period and Updates
Applications for rental assistance can be submitted from April 2 to December 4, 2026, for self-contained apartments meeting individual accessibility criteria. Current rates are valid from April 1 to June 30, 2026, and may be updated in subsequent quarters based on construction cost indices.
