Poland’s defense minister says the country can mine any border within 48 hours in case of real war threat.
Cezary Tomczyk on Mining the Border
Poland will prepare sites for border mining, but the actual mining will only happen when some crisis occurs, said on Friday in Radio ZET Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk (KO). To be direct, Tarcza Wschód is on one hand the construction of engineering barriers, on the other hand preparing sites for mining, production of those mines, but actual mining only in case of real war threat.
“Mining within 48 Hours”
Deputy Minister Cezary Tomczyk explained that mines remain one of the most effective deterrents used in modern conflicts. Bydgoskie Zakłady Elektromechaniczne Belma in Bydgoszcz, a state-owned company, will increase anti-tank mine production 25-fold. We are able to mine any border, eastern or northern, within 48 hours, he emphasized.
The Deputy Defense Minister stressed that no one intends to lay mines during peacetime, unless in a situation of direct war threat. “I hope that such a threat never occurs,” he said.
