Poland’s Ministry of Family is proposing a project to automatically extend the 800 Plus child benefit, eliminating annual application requirements starting in 2027.
End of Annual Applications for 800 Plus
Parents will no longer need to annually fill out forms for the 800 Plus benefit. The Ministry of Family has launched a consultation on a project that will automatically extend eligibility for the benefit.
The new regulations are slated to take effect next year.
Automatic Benefit Renewal
The proposed amendment to the law on state aid in raising children is deregulatory, aiming to simplify and streamline the process of granting the 800 Plus benefit.
Data Modification Remains Possible
The regulation, prepared by the MRPiPS (Ministry of Family and Social Policy), introduces a mechanism for automatic renewal of benefit eligibility for subsequent benefit periods.
Parents or guardians will still be able to modify data submitted in the application if their family situation changes; otherwise, eligibility will be automatically determined based on previously provided information.
Continued Application Options
The project also maintains the option to apply for the 800 Plus benefit in specific cases, such as the birth of a child or the return of parents with a child from abroad.
Implementation Timeline
The Ministry of Family anticipates the changes will come into effect for the benefit period covering 2027-2028, beginning on June 1, 2027.
Expanded Eligibility
The project also clarifies the catalog of those entitled to the educational allowance. The 800 Plus benefit will also be available to individuals exercising, by court order, so-called current guardianship over a child, a solution advocated by the Commissioner for Children’s Rights.
Benefit Details
The 800 zł childcare allowance is granted for each child until they reach the age of 18, regardless of the family’s income. As of February 1, 2025, ZUS (Social Insurance Institution) had received 4,869,000 applications for the benefit for over 7,415,000 children.
