The Council of Ministers is proposing the establishment of a government plenipotentiary for senior policy. The position will be held by a Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
Role and Responsibilities
The plenipotentiary will coordinate actions across various ministries, collaborate with local governments, NGOs, and expert communities. Key duties include monitoring national senior policy, analyzing government projects for seniors, and identifying barriers faced by elderly citizens.
The office will also initiate solutions for seniors and implement international cooperation in senior policy matters.
Legal Basis and Timeline
The position will be established based on the Council of Ministers Act and amendments to government administration laws from January 9, 2026, which will take effect on February 27.
Advisory Bodies and Reporting
The plenipotentiary can form advisory or expert teams, including a senior policy council. An annual report on activities will be submitted to the government by March 15 each year.
