Poland-Ukraine Joint Response Needed to Russia’s Drones, Says Expert

Russian drones that breached Poland’s airspace during a massive attack on Ukraine earlier this month prompted calls for a joint response from Poland and Ukraine, as Moscow’s long-term strategy comes under scrutiny.

Expert’s Warnings:

Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga warned that a lack of decisive Western response to Russia’s earlier crimes has emboldened its actions, leading to increased aggression.

Largest-Scale Attack Yet:

Describing the attack as “deliberate and non-spontaneous,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that the scale and nature of the nighttime attack showed careful planning. While smaller incidents involving Russian drones have occurred before, this attack involved a “much larger scale and targeting of actions.”

Shared Responsibility:

Maintaining strong cooperation between Warsaw and Kyiv was emphasized by Kiyv-based political analyst Jewhen Mahda. “Poles and Ukrainians have always been stronger when acting jointly,” he said.
