Polish Foreign Ministry warns nationals to leave Iran immediately due to unstable internal security situation.

Ministry’s Appeal to Polish Nationals in Iran

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a statement on Wednesday, 14 January. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges the immediate departure from Iran and advises against all travel to the country. The internal situation in Iran is unstable,” the message conveyed on X stated.

The ministry also reminded that in crisis situations, the primary channel for contact between diplomatic missions and citizens abroad is the Odysseus system. “Register in the system https://odyseusz.msz.gov.pl – it significantly increases safety and facilitates the quick transmission of important information,” an appeal added.

Recommendations for Those in Iran

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ website published recommendations for individuals currently in Iran. “If you are currently in Iran, you must absolutely:”

Unstable Situation in the Middle East

The ministry also informed that the situation across the entire Persian Gulf region is currently unstable. “Due to the unstable security situation in the Persian Gulf and Middle East region, we remind travelers of existing heightened precautions. We recommend following the ministry’s current communications and contacting carriers for the latest information on flights and possible route changes,” it stated on X.

Protests in Iran

Anti-government protests erupted in Iran on 28 December due to rising domestic prices. The American human rights organization Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported the number of fatalities linked to the demonstrations. HRANA reported on Wednesday that to date, 2,403 protesters, 147 individuals linked to the government, 12 people under 18 years old, and nine civilians not participating in the protests have died.
