Poland will host Albania at Warsaw’s PGE Narodowy stadium on March 26th for a World Cup qualifying playoff, prompting traffic restrictions and enhanced public transport.
Match and Traffic Disruptions
Poland is competing in the playoffs for qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The match against Albania will be held at PGE Narodowy on Thursday, March 26th. Public transport is recommended for fans traveling to the stadium.
Access to Saska Kępa will be restricted before the match.
Public Transport: Free Travel for Ticket Holders
The match kicks off at 8:45 PM. Metro line M2, running frequently, is the best option for reaching PGE Narodowy. Fans can also use the SKM (Fast City Rail) and Koleje Mazowieckie (Mazovian Railways), which stop at Warszawa Stadion station. Tram and bus lines operated by WTP also serve the area via Poniatowskiego Bridge.
From Thursday, March 26th, 6:00 AM to Friday, March 27th, 1:00 AM, fans with match tickets, invitations, or UEFA accreditations can travel for free on Warsaw’s public transport (buses, trams, metro, SKM) within the 1st fare zone. Parking at Parkuj i Jedź facilities will also be free during this period.
Saska Kępa Access Restrictions
On Thursday, starting at 6:30 PM, access to Saska Kępa will be limited to vehicles with SK identifiers, taxis, motorcycles, and public transport buses.
Entry to areas defined by specific streets will be regulated until 8:45 PM.
Bus Route Changes
Police may close additional streets. If Sokola Street is closed around 6:30 PM (from Zamoście to Wybrzeża Szczecińskiego), bus lines 102, 125, and 202 will be rerouted via Targowa and Kijowska streets to the Dworzec Wschodni (Kijowska) loop, while lines 146 and 147 will use Wybrzeża Szczecińskiego and Zamoście.
If Sokola, Zamoście, and Zamoyskiego streets are closed, lines 102, 125, 135, 146, 147, and 202 will be rerouted. Buses 102, 125, and 202 will travel via Targowa and Kijowska to the Dworzec Wschodni (Kijowska) loop, 135 via Targowa, and 146 and 147 via Aleja Zieleniecka.
Potential Bridge Closure and Rerouting
Around 10:30 PM, police may close Poniatowskiego Bridge and Jerozolimskie Avenue (from Ronda Waszyngtona to Ronda de Gaulle’a). Bus lines 111, 117, 158, 166, 507, 521, N22, N24, and N72 will be rerouted via Łazienkowski Bridge, while lines 146 and 147 will use Aleja Zieleniecka. Replacement bus line Z99 will operate from Ronda Wiatraczna to Plac Narutowicza via Łazienkowski Bridge.
Line 7 trams will be diverted onto the W-Z Route, and tram lines 9, 22, and 24 will be split into two sections.
Return Journey: Enhanced Public Transport
Additional buses on lines 138 and 509 will depart from Ronda Waszyngtona, heading towards Bokserska, Gocław, and Winnica, respectively.
Increased tram frequency will also be provided.
The metro will also be prepared for a larger number of passengers, with M2 line trains running more frequently.
