Poland will continue offering a one-time ‘Becikowe’ benefit of 1000 PLN to parents in 2026, with income criteria and medical check-up requirements remaining largely unchanged.
What is ‘Becikowe’?
‘Becikowe’ is a one-time benefit paid to parents and legal/foster guardians upon the birth of a child. The benefit applies to biological parents, legal guardians, and adoptive parents.
Benefit Amount in 2026
The amount of the benefit remains unchanged at 1000 PLN net per child born in 2026. This amount is paid as a lump sum and is not subject to taxation.
Income Criteria
To qualify for the benefit, families must meet specific financial requirements. In 2026, the income threshold for receiving ‘Becikowe’ will be determined based on the calendar year preceding the benefit period. Exceeding the threshold, even by one PLN, will result in application rejection.
Medical Condition: 10th Week of Pregnancy
Mothers must be under medical care from no later than the 10th week of pregnancy until delivery to receive the benefit. Confirmation of this care, via a doctor or midwife’s certificate, is required. Legal guardians, foster parents, and adoptive parents are exempt from this requirement.
Application Deadline and Location
Applications for ‘Becikowe’ must be submitted within 12 months of the child’s birth. For adoptions or legal guardianship, the deadline is also 12 months from the date of taking custody, but no later than the child’s 18th birthday.
Required Documents
A completed application form must be accompanied by the necessary supporting documentation.
‘Becikowe’ is independent of the 800+ childcare benefit, meaning parents can apply for both simultaneously.
