Poland’s 2026 Matura Exams: Dates, Formats, and Results Timeline

Poland’s 2026 Matura (secondary school leaving exams) will begin on May 7th, with nearly 345,000 graduates taking over 1.7 million written exams, and results expected by July 8th.

2026 Matura Exam Schedule and Key Information

The 2026 Matura exam session will run from May 7th to May 24th. Approximately 344,840 students completing their secondary education in the 2025/2026 school year will participate.

Two Matura Formats for 2026

In 2026, the Matura exam will be administered in two formats: Formula 2023 and Formula 2015. Students graduating from 4-year general secondary schools, 5-year technical schools, and 8-year vocational schools will take the exam in Formula 2023. Graduates of 2-year vocational schools (based on lower secondary education) and all school types from previous years will take the exam in Formula 2015.

Exam papers for each format are clearly distinguished, with Formula 2023 papers featuring violet graphic elements and Formula 2015 papers featuring orange graphic elements.

Mandatory and Optional Subjects

All students must take mandatory oral and written exams. Additionally, each graduate must take one advanced-level subject, or an advanced or bilingual-level modern foreign language. Students can also take up to five additional optional subjects.

Students who have fulfilled all requirements for a vocational diploma or certificate are exempt from the mandatory advanced-level subject requirement.

Exam Materials and Sessions

The Central Examination Commission, in collaboration with regional examination commissions, has prepared 537 different exam papers and 1052 different audio materials (for modern foreign languages, computer science, and music history), including versions adapted for students with disabilities.

Two exam sessions will be held each day: at 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM, except on May 4th, which will only have a morning session.

Total Number of Exams and Results Announcement

Approximately 711,365 oral exams and 1,853,760 written exams will be administered in 2026. Exam results, including certificates and supplements, will be sent to schools by July 8th, with national results also announced on that date.
